Dave "Dr.
Dave" Belomy
Bass
Bandleader
- The GROOVE Doctors
I started playing piano in the 2nd grade and I've been playing musical instruments ever since. In 1990 a friend on my softball team lent me his bass and amp, I got a "Learn to Play Bass" book and I taught myself to play. In the 80's I was in the Fun & Sun Water Ski Club (great debauchery) where I got the nickname Dr. Dave because of an advice column I wrote in the club newsletter. I met my first bandmates in 1991 on a houseboat trip through the club so I've been known as Dr. Dave to all my musical friends ever since. People often ask me what type of Doctor am I. You pretty much have to hear the answer to this question in person but I'll do the best I can to answer electronically..........I'm a Doctor of Luuuuuuuuuuv.
I love to dance and I've always been attracted to the bass parts in songs because to me the bass is usually what makes the song groove. Even before I ever started playing the bass my brother used to complain when he drove in my car that I had the bass too loud. I told him that "What are you talking about? It's perfect, because Bass is Everything."
One of my greatest joys in life is seeing people dancing, smiling and having a good time as I play. What I like so much about playing with the GROOVE Doctors is that we always get people dancing, no matter what kind of event we're at or the demographics of the crowd. I just love playing the bass and I plan on keeping folks movin' and groovin' as long as I still have enough strength to carry my amp.
